May Birthdays and An Anniversary

Today is our five year anniversary since we have been married, but we also got married on our “dating” anniversary four years prior. So, today we have been with each other for 9 years total. Happy Anniversary to US. After I drop Lili off at my parents, I’m meeting P at home and we’re going out to dinner. (Courtesy of my girlfriend Alison from Livestrong that sent us a gift certificate to a restaurant for Christmas! Thanks, Allie, Justin and Cayden). After dinner, we will pick up the kids and call it a night. P had work tomorrow and Lili has school. My parents will give the kids a bath though so at least they’ll be ready for bed.

Today is also my SIL’s birthday!!! Lili sends her birthday week countdowns. They’re adorable. I played the piano and she sang Happy Birthday to her.

Happy Birthday, Tia

She is celebrating her birthday in Florida this weekend. Hope you have a fabulous day, girl!

And yes, there are a lot of May birthdays (TAURUS IN THE HOUSE) that we have been celebrating. But a quick weekend recap — UH, yeah, on a Thursday. I’m so late.

On Saturday, I woke up and ran 6 miles. Then I had to bake brownies and get the kids ready. We were heading up north to visit some friends. First we had to pick up my BIL and the family.

Our friendds had a baby girl two months ago so we were finally meeting the newest addition and she is the cutest and most well-behaved baby ever.

SO MUCH BBQ on the grill, it was DELICIOUS.

The kids had a blast running back and forth.

Good times! After dropping off my BIL’s family, we got home around 11PM. I gave the kids a bath at Julie’s because I knew we would be home late. Glad I did that because it would have been awful waking them up for a bath and they needed on. B ate dirt and was pretty much covered in it.

Sunday morning, I woke up, ran 3-miles and then I had to bake. I was baking cookies, brownies and mac and cheese. We were celebrating my niece’s 6th birthday with family and friends.

Food was good. The face painter was a hit. It was a great time altogether.

I ended up getting pretty sick when we got home. I vomited twice — I think it was something I ate. P gave the kids a bath because I was so weak. I ended up having some toast and butter and then stayed in bed. We read books with the kids.

Favorite New Book

I highly recommend this book. It’s so educational and history made fun. Yesterday we learned about John Adams and Thomas Jefferson (both died on the same date, July 4). Thomas Jefferson was probably the smartest President ever. He’s the President responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. 🙂

After story time, lights went off and we were all knocked out.

Our week has been so busy. I even stopped at my former employer’s office for her 59th birthday. She’s the President of the American Dental Association.

Happy Birthday Doc

Happy Birthday Doc

She is like a celebrity. I worked for her for 15 years but have known her for 19 years. It’s crazy, I used to babysit her kids when they were 2 and 4. She has watched me grow through bad break-ups, getting engaged, getting married, having my kids, etc.

What’s the longest you’ve been at a job? Do you keep in touch with old employers? colleagues?
I have been working at my current job for 10.5 years. But the longest job was the Dr.’s office for 15-years.

What’s everyone doing for Memorial Day Weekend? Racing?

Hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day!

Another Week, Another (perhaps last) Update

5:45 AM: One-Hour Spin – COMPLETED

Okay, so I had my appointment this morning with the OB and was not expecting to hear this news. Here’s what I was expecting to hear. “Okay, so you’re due tomorrow. Let’s get you in for one more U/S and if you don’t go this week, we’ll induce you early next week.” Instead, I heard this come out of her mouth, “Okay, I think you’ll go soon. But, I think we should schedule you to be induced by tomorrow night for Wednesday morning. How does that sound?” WOAH… Okay, that took me by surprise. My mom will definitely be happy with this news as she said yesterday, “If you don’t give birth by tomorrow, get induced by tomorrow night!”

There’s nothing to be concerned about at all. All my stats are in order; my B/P is back to pre-pregnancy B/P (120/70), weight is same, baby’s heartbeat is nice and strong, head down, measuring well, etc. So we’re looking good. What I was fearful about? I think it was having to have a c-section. I want to avoid that and she reassured me that just because I get induced does not mean I will need to have a c-section. She just feels that there may not be enough room for baby to grow, so she wants me to get induced. I am full-term, so we’re on track.

Phew… she told me to call Pedro to let him know, but I said this to her, “Let me ask you this question? Do you feel that me getting induced is the best thing to happen?” Her answer, “Yes. I do think it is the best thing.” My response, “That’s all that matters and that’s all that he would care to know from you.” So that’s where we are.

What am I feeling? Anxious, but also, “Oh sh*t!#%#$ We need to finish up some last minute things before we head to the hospital tomorrow!!!!” At least the nursery is pretty much done.

When I got home from the doctor’s office, I had to tell Pedro what was going on. I knew he’d freak out no matter how I addressed the issue. He was still sleeping, but I kind of rubbed his shoulder. He asked how my appointment well and I proceeded to tell him that it went well. Then I added, “Okay, we’re going to the hospital tomorrow night to get induced and we should have Baby S on Wednesday!” Yeah, that woke him up immediately — first with lots of concerns — “Why? Is baby okay? Don’t lie to me!” After much discussion, we broke the news to family.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s almost here. I can’t wait!!!! For now, I better get some house work done. Maybe even one last mani/pedi…. Will keep you all posted.

The Last Weekend with Plans

7:00 AM: 3-Mile Run – COMPLETED

I didn’t get a chance to post anything from this past weekend as it was busy from Friday on. On top of that, this week I’ll be working alone, and I’m hoping it won’t be crazy. I’ll tell you one thing, as nice as the weekend was, I’m happy that there won’t be any major plans from this point on until Baby S comes around. Unfortunately, I don’t have great pics from this weekend, so I apologize for that now. Here’s a little summary of what I did.

Friday, I got out of work around 4pm. I ran home, curled my hair even though I knew it was going to come out from the humidity and was ready to leave by 6:15. We got to the restaurant a few minutes before 7 and everything was pretty much set up for P’s mom to make her surprise appearance. By 7:30, she walked in and she was in shock that her close friends and family were there to greet her. I’m glad it turned out well. Unfortunately, I didn’t take much pictures, but I’m sure I’ll get copies from someone.

Here’s what I do have, though… My mother-in-law giving her speech.

My father-in-law and I. I ended up wearing this red dress that my sister gave me during her pregnancy. I only tried it on the day before and I even brought it to work to ask for Jacquie’s opinion and my boss. They both liked it, so that’s what I went with.

Pedro practicing fatherhood with my oh-so-cute niece, Scarlett Bella.

Did I mention that she was the star of the party? She started up the dance floor and she shut it down. I’m not kidding. Everybody was loving her and my mother-in-law said next party they have, she’s not invited because she has too much of the spotlight. She’s way too cute.

The food was delicious and they had plenty throughout — the dessert was just as good, too. Pedro got the chocolate mousse and I, the flan.

The party ended a little after 11 and we hung out for a bit before heading home. I was exhausted. We got home close to 12 and then I could NOT sleep… I think I finally slept around 1:30.

I woke up the next morning at 6:45 to get ready for spin and coaching. I met Courtney at the tire place and drove us to spin. After, we ate breakfast at Panera’s and then picked up her car. We met at the park. GOTR lesson was done in 10-minutes since we needed to pick up our race shirts. I really do like the color.

After coaching, I headed over to my sister’s job to babysit Scarlett for a few hours. We ended up playing soccer and basketball in the gym and then watching Toy Story 3. It was fun. We had a great time. Pedro called me around 12:30 to wish me a Happy Anniversary. I think I finally left after 3 hours (around 2:15) and dropped off a salad for my mom’s dinner. I got home around 3:30 and spent some time with Pedro before getting ready to go out for dinner.

We headed over to Ruth’s Chris and said we’d take pictures by the water after dinner. Unfortunately, it was a downpour for a few and when we got out, it was too wet and cold. Dinner, however, was fabulous and we had a great time. So, we headed home… or we were planning to head home. Unfortunately, Pedro’s Tom-Tom had other plans for us. Let’s just say, Pedro’s Tom-Tom gave us ONE wrong turn and we ended up in the Lincoln Tunnel heading into NYC. Oh, we were not happy, especially since a car broke down in the tube and were stuck for quite awhile. We decided to take the Holland Tunnel back, and guess what?!? Another accident in that tube which was a delay. We both were miserable and needed to use the bathroom. I was also very uncomfortable in the car. When we got out, we stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts to use their restroom and then we finally got home… An hour and 45-minutes later. I was soooo tired, I went straight to sleep. We didn’t even eat our wedding cake.

The next morning, Courtney and I had plans to run. She wasn’t feeling 100% though since she had gone out to the city the night before and didn’t catch the train home till late. She wasn’t home until 1:50 AM. So yeah, we decided to cancel. No biggie. I snuggled with P for a bit longer. By 2, we got ready to grab a bite to eat. His sister-in-law was celebrating her birthday, so we ended up heading over to her mom’s house to greet.

When I got home, I took out our cake.

My dad is so cute. We kept it in their freezer for over a year.

Confession: I didn’t eat it. I was too full. The third trimester just doesn’t really have me with an appetite. Perhaps it’s just the baby taking up too much room in the belly? I don’t know. I just feel uncomfortably full…

Anyhow, that was our weekend. It was busy — and I’m glad that the next few weekends we just have one thing planned. I just want to finish nesting/cleaning the house. Will it ever happen?!? We’ll find out soon enough.

Now, I just have to get through this week.

It’s a Royal Wedding

5:45 AM: Spin – COMPLETED

6:45 AM: 4-Mile Run/Walk – COMPLETED

The baby didn’t have me running to the bathroom all night long last night. Phew. Maybe just twice and both were within an hour. I contemplated heading to the gym this morning. I was all packed and ready to go, and I wasn’t tired enough to crawl back into bed. So I hauled ass and got to steppin’.

Spin felt kind of rushed today. I don’t think she stayed the whole 45-minutes. Of course, this meant I had so much time to kill before work. No really, A LOT OF TIME. I don’t have to be at work until 9 and it’s literally right down the street from my gym — I was done with spin by 6:30. So I headed to the locker room, got my clothes ready, used the bathroom and hopped on the tread for a run/walk. Of course, all the channels had The Royal Wedding being televised.

I thought she Kate looked amazing. What did you think? Did you watch it?

Well, I made it to work half an hour early anyway. I paid my bills and ate my breakfast. Hopefully it’s a nice quiet day. I’d like to get out of here and run some errands. I should make a list of things I’d like to do.

Happy Friday!
