6:45 AM: Burn Intervals (45-Minutes) – COMPLETED
12:00 PM: 3.1-Mile Run (Avg. Pace 8:49 min/mi) – COMPLETED
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year! I’ve been M.I.A. I know. I wanted to blog from home but let’s be real here — any free chance I get to spend it with Lili means I won’t be near the computer. My long break was quite lovely though, and pretty long (and perhaps boring to some of you) so I’ll probably lose some of you readers along the way. I’ll break it down in two parts.
I did get out of work early on Friday and I met up with Celeste to run on the track.
We did 1-mile warm-up, hopped a fence, then did 1×400 @ 7:30, 3×800 @ 7:30, 7:15, 7:00, then 1×200 @ 6:00.
“Rule 2.40 Respect the Rules of the Track” if you have to squeeze, hop, jump a gate, then it’s not okay to run on the track.”
I swear, we must have looked like two idiots because we later found the “secret” exit.
All I have to say is thank goodness we didn’t have to hop a fence post-speed workout. I don’t know if I would have been able to do that climb. Good news is I didn’t puke after this track workout. HA. We did a cool down (about a mile and change) and then I headed over to pick up Lili. We were doing our annual family Christmas party at my sister’s. I usually hold it but Santa was coming to my sister’s neighborhood and we wanted the kids to see him.
It was a long night and the next day we had to get up early to get a quick strength workout in (thanks to Jackie Warner’s Xtreme workout) and to go watch Scarlett perform in her dance recital. She did amazing. I have to get the pictures from my sister. My sister invited us to eat out but we really had to go to the mall and finish up some Christmas shopping.
Starting her early with some Bubbletea
I finished wrapping some gifts after and called it a night. Sunday, we got up and Celeste met me at my house around 9:45. We had a long run to get in. We did 2.33-miles over to my sister’s house and then we followed my sister’s schedule. She had 6-miles at 10:30-10:44 min/mi pace then 4-miles at her MRP, 9:45 min/mi. Celeste and I dropped her off and did the last 4-miles at our MRP 8:45 min/mi. It felt easy and fast. The rest of the day I baked, hung out with Lili and did some shopping for me and one last gift for Pedro.
Christmas Eve, we woke up early. I did a strength workout and then met up with Celeste to do a practice, easy run on the 5k course for New Year’s Day. We were both treating this as a recovery run since we went long the day before. I decided to take Lili with me. It was cold so she was bundled up. Celeste mapped out the course perfectly. There were a few hills (not too bad) in miles 1 and 2. It was a great run.
Merry Christmas Eve Run
Aunt CC and Lili-pad
I picked up food for us to eat and then I showered, took a nap with Lili and then we got ready for the evening festivities.
Pedro’s mom served lobster, duck, lamb and steak. We mingled for quite a bit and had a great time.
We headed over to my parents’ house later than we were planning. My sister was already on her way out. But we hung out with the rest of the clan even though they were already cleaning up.
We were home close to 11 and called it a night. Lili was exhausted and we still had to do more family festivities the next day. We woke up early and headed over to my sister’s for Christmas breakfast.

It was a great time and we had so much fun. We ended up leaving there close to 11 and going over to my BIL’s house for Christmas Brunch #2.
A lot of opening gifts and eating and being merry. We were finally home by 4:00 PM. EXHAUSTED!!!
The next day I was hosting Christmas Part 3,343,646. HA! The house was turned upside down, I had no laundry done, food wasn’t ready, yada yada yada — BUT, I’m a little selfish and needed to go on a run. I dropped off Lili at my parents’ house for a few and met up with Celeste for a trail (run #4 with her on my vacation).
Let’s run this hill.
I’m wearing my new workout top from my SIL’s family. LOVE IT!!! I actually wore it today too.
We did 6.25-miles in the trails (it was TOUGH) and then we parted ways. She had a ton of cleaning to do and so did I. I was home with Lili by 11 which gave me just enough time to CLEAN, start cooking, put her down for a nap, etc. By 3pm, it started SNOWING — so my SIL’s family had to cancel (totally understandable since they get more snow than we do). My in-laws were still coming though.
It really did turn out well even though there were just four of us. I loved all the gifts that we got and Pedro’s dad LOVED his iPad 2 from all of us. They ended up leaving close to 9:30 and we called it a night. It was successful.
There’s still so much more that we did – Sabrina’s 12th birthday, more runs, a great race, etc. Stay tuned for Part II.
How was your Christmas spent? Did you get any gifts you weren’t expecting? Did you go to the mall to make some returns?
I’ll be back to let you know what gifts I loved!!!
