Summer Fun (and Hot Runs)…

I feel like I’m in my senior year of high school and have been absent for 3-weeks because I had the chicken pox (yes, it’s true, I was 17 years old when I got the chicken pox!).  I haven’t posted in a few weeks. Juggling the kids, work, marathon training and life has been quite the struggle, but I am getting through it.

Quick update (is it ever really quick?).  Kids started summer camp 3-weeks ago.  The first few days were okay, and then there were tears others, but now, they’re pros.

One of the days I picked the kids up, the teacher told me Sebastian had a (girl)friend that follows him and sits next to him at lunch. They supposedly feed each other lunch.

girlfriend at camp

Favorite part of the day is when I pick them up. But overall, they’re having a blast.

Their last week is next week but I am thinking of doing one more week after and then they’ll have two weeks before school starts (and for me to get Sebastian fully potty trained. We’re working on it!).

scientist day

We have spent some time with family when we can.  P’s nephew came to my office two Fridays ago and then he slept over.

We had dinner with my in-laws and then Jules, Lili and I hit up our favorite cafe, Van Goh’s Ear.

van goh

Then Sundays we go to mass.

We made it to the movies in the park again.  This time we watched Hotel Transylvania 2. Next week is the last movie in the park, Inside Out. I’m looking forward to that one.

And last Friday after work, I picked up my niece from her summer camp so that the kids had some time to play.

When I’m not able to make it outdoors for a run, I turn to my trusty tread.

And I just started binge watching Pretty Little Liars (and I’m obsessed.  Almost on season 4 so still so much to catch up on!).

We tried out a new hole in the wall Mexican place, Freppe’s.

And we loved it!!!!!!

Last weekend it RAINED and RAINED… so we made sure to do some indoors arts/crafts projects.

We read for the millionth time, Where the Wild Things Are and then made monsters and boats.  Then we did a paint night.

It was fun.

We try to get to the pool when we can.

And on Tuesday we went to National Night Out in town.

Sebastian was STAR-STRUCK when he saw Spiderman.

And when Spiderman gave him a high-5, well, that just made his day.

AND Pedro’s birthday gift to me…

bday gifts

New shoes, fuel, compression socks, etc…. I’m in heaven. (and yes, my birthday was nearly two months ago… I just used his certificate yesterday!).

Do you watch PLL? What’s your favorite TV show(s)? I have a few. Breaking Bad, Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Empire (which I still need to catch up on).

Plans for the weekend? I have a long run and nothing else on schedule really. I like those kinds of weekends…

Recap by Numbers + Celebrating Seuss

Strength/Core – COMPLETED

All week I have been trying to get on here to post something but it’s been pretty crazy at the office.  At least it’s my Friday.  Just a quick recap of the past weekend and early week.

1. Friday (2/26) I registered B for Pre-K and took him out to the diner. I love having dates with him.

We did the food shopping right after. My dad came home from the hospital on Friday so we visited briefly before we headed over to dance.  He’s home the rest of this week and goes back for his transplant on Monday, March 7th.

2.  I got to run 9 miles with my solemate, Cici, this past Saturday (2/27) and we had an amazing RUN.  We did the first 7 miles at a regular pace and the last 2-miles at race pace. NAILED IT.

9 mile run

3.  After my run,  Lili and I met up with my best friend and her daughter for a Frozen Ball.

frozen ball

It was too much fun and so much cuteness involved.

best friends

frozen ball 2

She had so  much fun.  In fact, she kept saying she was going back tomorrow to see Queen Elsa. I had to break the news to her that we weren’t going back.

3.  Sunday (2/28), I woke up and did weights.  Then I had to bake brownies and cookies for our brunch with P’s family.

We got to his parents’ house at around 11:15.

It was a great spread and everything was delicious.

sanchez boys

It was 60-degrees out so after brunch we took the kids to the park.

park 2

They didn’t want to leave but B needed a nap.  So we got home, put him down and then Lili and I read some books.  Her reading is getting so much better.  Then when B woke up, the kids and I headed over to spend some time with my dad.  I gave them a bath there and as soon as we got home they were in bed.

4.  Monday (2/29) my grandfather turned 20 years old.  He’s a leap baby.  We didn’t get to see him this year.   We’re hoping we’ll see him after my dad’s transplant.  I  woke up and ran 3-miles before the whole morning routine drill.  After work, the kids and I headed over to the library for story/craft.

They read Wiggles and made a little wiggle dog.

We were home by 7:15 and I started dinner. It was a long day.

5. Tuesday (3/1) I did another short run before work.  After work I took the kids to gymnastics.

It’s a new session.  The kids love gymnastics.  Good news is it’s down the street from the house.  I got home and made my dad’s bistek (beef steak and onions).

P must have been craving it because he ate two plates. I put the kids down and they took forever to sleep.  As soon as they did, I cleaned up the kitchen, living room and dining room and then I took out the big old arts/crafts box and prepared activities for the next night. Also, I decorated the room for Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

dr.seuss birthday

I was out by 1 AM only to be up running 4-miles at 6.  The things you do for your kids. They’re worth it.

6.  Celebrating Seuss (3/2). After work yesterday, I place a pizza and chicken wings that I had marinating from that morning into the oven.  We had one hour to do our Seuss activities.

We had a lot of fun.  Dinner was ready close to 8, so after, I put kids down and literally passed out with them. I basically left the kitchen a bit of a mess but good news is, our lovely cleaning lady comes today.

I have another busy weekend coming up including my dad’s big 60th birthday and Sabrina’s confirmation.  Lots to celebrate.  Also, as cold as it is today and the impending snow we are supposed to get tomorrow — we’re supposed to hit temps up to 70s next week.  So excited.

Who else is ready for Spring?

Three Things Wednesday

Three things Wednesday.

1. P got fan mail from Lili at work today.

Once every so often when Lili comes to work with me, she writes him a letter. We mail it to his office and when he gets it, it makes his day.

2. MEXICAN TACO SALAD. My favorite…

Taco Salad

3. Sole RUN… YIPPPEEEE. Two days in a row that I get to see my solemate — well, it’s gotta be a grreeeeat week. Love you, Cici.

Happy Wednesday! I gotta play catch-up. It’s been busy at work.

May Birthdays and An Anniversary

Today is our five year anniversary since we have been married, but we also got married on our “dating” anniversary four years prior. So, today we have been with each other for 9 years total. Happy Anniversary to US. After I drop Lili off at my parents, I’m meeting P at home and we’re going out to dinner. (Courtesy of my girlfriend Alison from Livestrong that sent us a gift certificate to a restaurant for Christmas! Thanks, Allie, Justin and Cayden). After dinner, we will pick up the kids and call it a night. P had work tomorrow and Lili has school. My parents will give the kids a bath though so at least they’ll be ready for bed.

Today is also my SIL’s birthday!!! Lili sends her birthday week countdowns. They’re adorable. I played the piano and she sang Happy Birthday to her.

Happy Birthday, Tia

She is celebrating her birthday in Florida this weekend. Hope you have a fabulous day, girl!

And yes, there are a lot of May birthdays (TAURUS IN THE HOUSE) that we have been celebrating. But a quick weekend recap — UH, yeah, on a Thursday. I’m so late.

On Saturday, I woke up and ran 6 miles. Then I had to bake brownies and get the kids ready. We were heading up north to visit some friends. First we had to pick up my BIL and the family.

Our friendds had a baby girl two months ago so we were finally meeting the newest addition and she is the cutest and most well-behaved baby ever.

SO MUCH BBQ on the grill, it was DELICIOUS.

The kids had a blast running back and forth.

Good times! After dropping off my BIL’s family, we got home around 11PM. I gave the kids a bath at Julie’s because I knew we would be home late. Glad I did that because it would have been awful waking them up for a bath and they needed on. B ate dirt and was pretty much covered in it.

Sunday morning, I woke up, ran 3-miles and then I had to bake. I was baking cookies, brownies and mac and cheese. We were celebrating my niece’s 6th birthday with family and friends.

I ended up getting pretty sick when we got home. I vomited twice — I think it was something I ate. P gave the kids a bath because I was so weak. I ended up having some toast and butter and then stayed in bed. We read books with the kids.

Favorite New Book

I highly recommend this book. It’s so educational and history made fun. Yesterday we learned about John Adams and Thomas Jefferson (both died on the same date, July 4). Thomas Jefferson was probably the smartest President ever. He’s the President responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. 🙂

After story time, lights went off and we were all knocked out.

Our week has been so busy. I even stopped at my former employer’s office for her 59th birthday. She’s the President of the American Dental Association.

Happy Birthday Doc

Happy Birthday Doc

She is like a celebrity. I worked for her for 15 years but have known her for 19 years. It’s crazy, I used to babysit her kids when they were 2 and 4. She has watched me grow through bad break-ups, getting engaged, getting married, having my kids, etc.

What’s the longest you’ve been at a job? Do you keep in touch with old employers? colleagues?
I have been working at my current job for 10.5 years. But the longest job was the Dr.’s office for 15-years.

What’s everyone doing for Memorial Day Weekend? Racing?

Hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day!

Summer Weather

It is BEAUTIFUL out today. Unfortunately, I had to settle for the good old ‘mill for my morning run. P will be cleaning off the jogger tonight and I can finally take the kiddos out for a run. It would really be B’s first time experiencing runs in the jogger. I mean, he was SO little when I would take him. Most of the time, he’d fall asleep. So I’m very, VERY interested to see how he will be throughout a run (short or long). I remember Lili used to be able to sit in the jogger for at least 2+ hours. The longest run she was in the jogger was over 10 miles. Granted, she was 2 years old. She was still a trooper.

We had a lovely weekend and Lili is pretty much all better (aside from allergies and a mild cough). On Friday morning, I woke up with the kids on the later side and we started our day. I was happy to have Lili home for the day. I put some learning music on and the kids helped me bake a banana bread. Then I made a three egg with cheese omelette (kids ate most of it and only left me with two bites). After the banana bread was done, I put a load of laundry in and baked cookies. When the cookies were done, I was ready to RUN.

Freshly Baked Goodies

Freshly Baked Goodies

I caught up with most of Grey’s Anatomy on my run (it was a 2-hour episode, but really 85 minutes on ABC.COM, so I still had about 25 minutes left). I’m just not feeling it after they killed of McDreamy. I’m still mourning. At least I’m over the denial. The kids were thrilled that I was done with my run.

After my run, I put another load in the wash and the one in the dryer, took a quick shower and then started Lili on some school work. I emailed her teacher to ask her what she missed last week and she missed the letter Z, the number 13, more on symmetry, estimation and the new thing they’re learning is about volume. So many things.

Busy Worker

Busy Worker

We worked for about an hour and then I put the kids down to nap. By 2pm, I had to wake them up, get them dressed and we had to pick up some papers at my in-laws that they needed notarized. I then headed over to pick up my niece from school and my sis left the house key.

When we got to my sister’s, I let the dog out, made sure Scarlett washed her hands, put her lunch bag away and she practiced the piano.

Piano Practice

After, they had a quick snack and played. My sister did not get home for another two hours so I prepared their dinner and when my sis got there, we all ate. She let Georgie back in and initially B was scared. After 15 minutes, he was HAPPY and they were best buds.

The cousins had so much fun and I left with another bag of clothes from my sister.

We were home by 8:30 and P was sad the Nets lost. I gave Lili a quick bath and into bed they went. Exhausted.

Saturday morning I woke up and made breakfast. Then I ran 3 miles and showered. I did another load of laundry, put the kids down to nap and then P went to run errands. When he got home, I fed the kids lunch and then we went outside to play. P was mowing the lawn and cutting the hedges.

Scooter Boy

It was beautiful. We got lucky with great summer-like weather. BUT, the pollen was crazy high. After an hour or so, Lili complained that her nose was runny and her eyes were watery and wanted to stay inside now. I started dinner and folded the laundry. Kids ate and then I gave them a bath.

P and I decided last minute to order the fight. What a waste… but I guess we would have been more mad if we missed something big. HA! It started so late though — Almost midnight on the east coast. So yeah, you know I did not sleep until 1AM.

I took off from working out yesterday and fed kids and myself breakfast before Sunday mass. Don’t even ask how we got there. Mass starts at 10:30 and I didn’t get into the shower until 10. Then P said he wanted to come so jumped out of bed and into the shower by 10:10. We were about 5 minutes late but it worked out perfect and both kids did great.

When we got home, I put B down for a nap, came out and fed Lili lunch and then we got ready for her classmate’s 4th birthday party. It started at 2pm and she was so exited. Unfortunately, not many of her classmates came. Out of 17 kids, only 3 of them from school were there.

I can’t take it. These little kids are too cute.

Lili and I did the food shopping after the party and then came home. Thank goodness we had leftovers.

My weekend in a nutshell. I know, that’s pretty darn long. HA!

Did anybody else order the fight? I was putting the kids down when I heard P playing a video game. Don’t think for a minute I walked into his room and scolded him — I told him I didn’t care if it was commentary, biographies on the boxers, or the opening act boxers, but he better be watching WHATEVER is on because it’s costing us $100.

Who were you rooting for? Of course I was #teampacquiao.

Anybody else watching the playoffs?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

The Vicious Sick Cycle = Sleep Deprivation

My sleep deprivation is leaning heavily towards the chronic side.! It doesn’t help that Lili had a 102+ fever at 11:30pm on Sunday night and 1:30 AM last night (early morning) we had to give her medicine. And it didn’t help that B wouldn’t stop nursing between 1:40-4 AM.

Okay, done complaining. Seriously, there are worst things out there. I don’t mind not getting sleep for my little ones. They’re such hams. Really.

Quick recap. On Wednesday night we celebrated my MIL’s 66th Birthday. It was good. I ended up stopping by this yummy bakery. BEST.GOODIES.EVER! I couldn’t decide what NOT to get. I think that’s how you know you’re in trouble. Anyway, she had dinner there and we ate, sang and opened gifts.

I washed dishes and we hung out for a little bit longer before heading home. I gave kids a bath and got them ready for bed.

Thursday night, we got home and had to go over Lili’s cultural background. We did it while I was cooking dinner and while we ate. It was a long evening. BUT it had to get done. P and I had to finish putting the poster board together and the next morning, Lili helped glue the rest but overall, I think it came out great.

We had this passport that she got from a birthday party last November. Thank goodness I kept it because it went PERFECT with this project.

Multicultural Project

Multicultural Project

We had stickers stamped into the book of some countries including, Spain, Ecuador and the Philippines. We were happy with the results. Of course, when I drop her off at school the next morning, her teacher was absent. Nice.

After drop off, I came home, ran for one hour on the treadmill while watching Grey’s Anatomy. DID ANYBODY ELSE WATCH THIS? WHO ELSE CRIED AND IS STILL ANGRY? Took me forever to get over. Thank goodness for this handsome fellow being able to turn my frown upside down.

Makes me Smile

Anyway, after I watched it, I showered, put B down for a nap and then when he woke up, we ate something quickly, changed and headed out to run errands. I had to pick up a gift certificate for my FIL at this French restaurant. Then I picked up lunch/early dinner for my in-laws. We were celebrating his birthday.

Recycled Cake

Recycled Cake

We had half a cake left from Wed. evening, so we sang Happy Birthday again and let me tell you, it still tasted good two days later.

P showed up later that evening and then we got home by 7:30. It was nice. Saturday was low-key. I was exhausted and so were the kids so I did laundry, cleaned and we did a lot of fun arts/crafts and played with play-doh.

Sunday, I got up early, did my morning run and then we headed over to the mall to get the kids a haircut.

I knew something was wrong though when we got home from the mall. Lili had been complaining that she was tired and just wanted to rest on the couch. She had taken a nap earlier that day so I thought it was strange. It wasn’t until after bath and a few hours after that she felt warm. Poor kid. I’m leaving work at 2:15 to take her to the doctor’s office. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

I’ve been getting most of my runs in during the morning because lunch has been unpredictable. I actually prefer AM runs. I just can’t wait till Lili is on her summer break so we could break out the jogger.

Can’t believe it’s almost May. Anybody have any vacation/getaways planned? We don’t have any set plans yet but hopefully somewhere we can relax.

Did you watch Grey’s Anatomy? Did you cry? Will you still watch? I’ll still watch and I am still in shock and mourning…

Have a great Tuesday!

F is for…

Lili’s learning the letter “F” in school so I figured, let’s get a themed post together. I tried to compile my own list of “F”s. So here goes.

1. F is for FAMILY: Last week we celebrated my (not so) baby brother’s 26th birthday. He’s the reason I wanted babies in the first place. I used to sleep in the crib with him when my mom would leave for the hospital. I would change his diapers, go to his parent/teacher conferences, attend his concerts, pick him up and walk him home from school, taught him to drive, etc. We also celebrated his girlfriend, Mimi, for passing her NCLEX. She now officially a Registered Nurse. GOOD TIMES.

Birthday/NCLEX Celebrations

Birthday/NCLEX Celebrations

We also have an amazing nephew and niece on P’s side. Sabrina is now 14 turning 15 and starting her freshman year in high school this September. I can’t believe it. She’s an amazing STAR student. All advanced classes. She is also a cancer survivor. We love her to death. And Julian is on the football team and a great student in school as well. He just turned 11! Gosh, I can’t believe how grown they are and we are happy that they still enjoy doing our silly Easter events.

Contestants with their Host

Contestants with their Host

By the end of the game show, P’s wig was falling off. HA.

2. F is for FITTING IN FITNESS. It isn’t always easy fitting in my workouts but I try to do what I can these days. I thought by now, Sebastian would be more regular with his sleeping pattern, but I was wrong. So last night before I got dinner together, I did a workout while the kids watched Toy Story.

Working Out

Working Out

Lili joined in towards the end. And then I got dinner together. This morning, I did have time to run on the treadmill.

Tread/Speed Workout

I did a speed workout. 🙂

3. F is for FOOD. I love food. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I bought raviolis from Trader Joe’s and it’s actually pretty good. B likes it. Even P liked it. I think I’ll have to buy more. P had leftovers.

And I know I promised Nat my chocolate cake recipe. I’m going to post it today.

Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Cake

4. F is for FRIENDS. I haven’t seen most of my friends in awhile, but I did get to see my soley last week as we met up at the track in our shammy shirts. We were celebrating our shammiversary. It was when she PR with a 3:42 marathon and I ran a marathon 12-weeks pregnant. Good times.

And I'm currently scheduling plans with my other two close gals. My girlfriend's son, (my godson), turns 10 today which also means it's my girlfriend, Hazel's, 10 year anniversary as friends. Also, our good friend, Eric, (we're in a group text) just got promoted to Sous Chef at the country club. A lot to celebrate.

The above pic was taken at my baby shower in May 2011.

And now the chocolate cake recipe. I got this from my girlfriend’s grandmother.

Nan’s Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients (for cake):

2 cups of sugar
1 3/4 cups of all purpose flour
3/4 unsweetened Hershey’s Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
1/3 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of boiling water
1 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

Ingredients for Frosting:

1 cup of confectioners sugar
1/2 cup of unsweetened Hershey’s cocoa powder
1 pint of heavy cream

1. Preheat over 350. Grease and flour two 9-in round baking pans.

2. Combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder/baking soda and salt in bowl. Mix and then slowly add milk, oil and vanilla. Beat on low to medium speed for about 3 minutes. Slowly add in the boiling water. Pour the batter evenly into pans.

3. Bake for 30-35 minutes and cool for 10 minutes then remove onto a rack.

4. Once it is cool, use a long knife to cut as evenly as you, each cake to make 4 layers total. Make sure it’s completely cool before frosting.

Directions for Frosting:

Mix together the sugar, cocoa and add in slowly the creamer. Beat on medium for about 5 minutes or more until the liquid mix becomes more frosty like. (HAHA).

I promise, it’s delicious. There wasn’t a lot leftover and my niece and nephew took a chunk home. We have our share in the fridge — but it might not last till tonight. 🙂

Do you have a yummy cake recipe? Share with me!!!!

Back To Work

I have 6-miles on tap tonight (God help me!). While I was up and ready to run at 5AM, Sebastian was not having it this morning. He wanted to nurse and nurse and nurse and nurse. He is not the greatest sleeper, but I am not going to complain. They’re not babies forever (sigh!) and there will come a time when he won’t need mommy (insert crying face), so I will embrace the time we have together. It took Lili till the age of two and change to finally sleep well. So yeah, it will be awhile. HA! The last few days I’ve had incredible runs so I’m not losing all hope here. 🙂

The roads were icy this morning but nothing like yesterday. Lili’s school did not have a delayed opening and we were a little annoyed that her school gave her a “late slip” for 15 minutes. Seriously people?!? Shouldn’t safety be FIRST in this weather? I know people think, “big deal. she’s in pre-K anyway!” but it’s about principle. IMO. Her teacher was even shocked that she was given a late slip. The kids that were being bussed hadn’t even arrived.

I was secretly hoping we’d have a delayed opening this morning and almost took it upon myself to just go in late so I could run before work, but that didn’t seem right. So I did the normal morning routine: wake kiddos up, get them breakfast

Banana Bread and PB

Banana Bread and PB

I made Lili’s lunch, brushed their teeth, got them dressed, showered and dropped the little guy off. I didn’t stay long because my parking job was awful (snow on a one-way street is not fun) and I wanted to get Dunkin’ coffee.

I need to stop at Trader Joe’s and CVS at lunch. Picking up some chicken for tonight. I made rice with hard boiled eggs and mozzerella cheese last night.

Rice & Eggs

Rice & Eggs

P has leftover rice so he could eat the chicken with this, though I have a feeling he will want me to make potatoes!

AND EXCITING NEWS!!! There’s a Purebarre studio opening BELOW my office!!! I’m so excited because they have a special for new guests. It’s $100 for the first week free and 5 weeks UNLIMITED!!! Oh, I’m so snatching that deal! 🙂

Have you tried Purebarre? Do you love it?

What are you making for dinner tonight?

Shoo Flu, Don’t Bother Us!

Well, yesterday was NOT how I expected it to turn out. After work on Monday, I scooped up the kids to see that Lili was really stuffed up. She did not seem to be getting much better. She still had an appetite, but that was it. Then, that night, while we were sleeping, Sebastian started to get really stuffy. He couldn’t breathe out of his nose. Poor kid. I tried to flush his nose out but he wasn’t cooperating, so we just dealt with it. I dropped the kids off at my in-laws but told them that I was going to try to schedule an appointment at the doctor’s office. I got to work and the “latest” time I could get was 11:30. I was hoping I could get an appointment at around 3-4, but that was the best they could give me. I took a bunch of files home to work on. So I had to leave the office at 10:40 to scoop up the kids. Of course, I was running crazy late and hit traffic. The worst part was, as I was driving to my in-law’s, I look down and notice my wedding band is missing!!!! AHHHHHHH. I panic, call the office to ask the girls to look. I was 99% sure I was wearing it at work, BUT they’re loose — and when the office is an icebox, they’re even more loose. Unfortunately, they search high and low and nothing. There wasn’t much I could do. I really needed to just focus on the kids.

I get to the kids 10 minutes later than I had planned and we were 5 minutes late to the appointment. We also had to wait to be seen. I knew it was going to be a wait since they were squeezing a “sick” visit into their schedule. It’s just annoying that they would say 11:30 when we wouldn’t actually be seen until after 1PM.

It'll be okay, little bro.

It’ll be okay, little bro.

Sick & Happy (till the doctor comes in)...

Sick & Happy (till the doctor comes in)…

So, they redid the strep test and it came out negative. The doctor feels it’s just a bad cold and I say, “Well, what about the flu?” She says that she doesn’t think it’s the flu because Lili hasn’t had a persistent fever. I mention that all day yesterday she was exhausted and just wanted to sleep. So she said that if I wanted to have her take the flu test for peace of mind, then they can do it. Well, I mean, yes, that’s why I am here. I was a little annoyed because it’s not really a difficult test — just a swab up the nose to test. The doctor said they would just do Lili’s first because she had the fever — and if hers comes out positive, then they’ll test Sebastian’s. We wait again — tick-tock-tick-tock. I hear the doctor and she says to the nurse, “It’s positive for the flu???? Oh no!!!” So yeah, Lili has the flu. She calls in her prescription and then they test Sebastian. His comes back negative (He recently had the first part of his flu shot but still needs to go back for the second part). Of course, Lili is contagious for the next five days — and now we need to make sure that Sebastian doesn’t get the flu.

We also decided to take turns on taking off. Honestly, we don’t want any of the grandparents getting sick. So P took off today and I will take off tomorrow. It’s just easier and everyone else can remain healthy. 🙂 Last night was tough — Sebastian still had a hard time breathing through his nose. Lili woke up and almost vomited at one point but then got too scared and couldn’t stop crying. I cleaned out her nose and then she went back to bed. Exhausting night, indeed. Just 4 more days of Tamiflu.

So, since P took off today, I came to work and started to look for my wedding band. I searched and searched. Two hours later, still nothing. I start looking through files I was looking through and BAM, right by my printer, on top of a file, there was my ring!!! I knew it was at the office.

And on a last note, it’s been feeling more like fall these last few days, so on Monday I broke out the mini-crock pot at work. I had some leftover lentils from Friday night’s dinner. I ordered a salad and a side of sweet potato fries.

Lunch Post Run

Lunch Post Run

Today, I ordered a Greek Wrap with grilled chicken. Yum.

Do you pack your lunch or order in?

Do you get your flu shot? When was the last time you got the flu?

I’m off to figure out if I can squeeze in a run or not.

Defeated, But Not Down!

6:00 PM: Core/Strength – PENDING

Things were going pretty well until Thursday morning when P told me that Lili’s rash was still not better and felt that we should take her to the doctor sooner than later. She had been dealing with this rash for almost 2 weeks at that point, so I made the call and scheduled her an appointment for 3:15. I left work around 2 and was so excited to see her. I think it’s because I don’t do drop off so I seriously miss the kid!!! I’m pretty sure she misses me too.

I mean, look at that smile. As soon as she picked me out from the crowd, she had this giant smile on her face. She had to stand in line but finally, after one whole minute, she couldn’t control herself and threw herself on me. We hugged it out for awhile and then I told her we had to go the doctor’s office for her rash.

The doctor came in and checked out her rash, felt her glands and said it looks like she has strep throat (even with no fever). OY! So they took a swab and stuck it down her throat, at which point she gagged and said, “Okay mommy. I’m ready to go home now!” HAHAHA. It was too funny. But they tested it out and it came out positive. So yeah, Strep Throat/Scarlet Fever was her diagnosis. Ugh. She said no school for Friday and keep her away from her brother, but if he had any symptoms, bring him in.

Friday, I was supposed to be running ERRANDS for a wedding we had on Saturday. Well, that didn’t happen because Lili had started her antibiotics and I wanted to keep her indoors. So we did what we do best.

Sebastian tried to join us but first he went down for a quick nap. When he woke up, he did try to sit with us, but that was short lived since all he really wanted to do was climb the table and put everything in his mouth.

We decided to work on Fall/Halloween themes.

After arts and crafts, we ate lunch and then they went down for a nap. At 4pm, P texted me that he was famished and looking forward to dinner. So I started to make a Shepard’s Pie and Lentil Soup. We ate on the earlier side (6:15PM). It really was a very long day.

Saturday, we woke up early and we ate breakfast. Then the kids and I headed over to Target, Starbucks and Children’s Place. I dropped off our shopping bags at home and then the kids and I went to my mom and dad’s. Of course we weren’t planning on staying long but that never ever happens. So, we were home closer to noon and by that point we had to put the kids down for a nap before the wedding (which started at 3PM). The kids went down easily (that also never really happens) and I had time to do my nails (I have to tell you about the best top coat ever), shower, do my hair and make-up. Of course P did not find his suit on time and when he did, it needed to be steamed. Yeah, talk about last minute (after I told him several times to get his stuff together…). Kids were up close to 3 and I had to get them dressed and ready — believe it or not, we were in the car by 3:06 and at the restaurant/hall at 3:15. Not too bad. Thank goodness it was down the street from our house.

The wedding was lovely. Just a few pictures.

We ended up leaving after dinner because Lili needed to take her meds and the kids were just exhausted. I was exhausted myself. After bath time, they hopped into bed and called it a night. Of course, Sebastian started to feel a tad warm. And I woke up with the chills and a slight fever. Ugh. I hate do cancel out on my LR with Cici. So bummed. When we woke up and got out of bed, I felt better, but then Sebastian was crazy hot off and on. I napped with them, fed them and then went food shopping. Our late lunch/early dinner was rescheduled with my in-laws from yesterday to this Thursday evening. When I got home, I started an early dinner and then we took Sebastian’s temp again — 101.6. Not good. Gave him some medicine as well as Lili and then I put them down as early as could — though Lili fought it until 9PM.

I could NOT sleep because he kept waking up and by 2AM, the medicine wore off and his temp was back to 101.4. So I gave him another dose and put a wet cold face towel on his forehead. It did not go down until 3AM. Needless to say, I’m working on maybe 2 hours of sleep here. P did me a favor and took off so he could stay with him and I called the dr. to schedule an appointment for him — earliest they could take him is 12. I dropped Lili off and will be picking her up! Thank goodness for my office!!! They really are so understanding.

One thing I do feel accomplished about was setting a menu for the week, thanks to Cici. So P picked out foods that he would want for the week and we’re set. I prepped as much as I could (diced up veggies, prepared the meatballs, etc.).

And as for training, I need to get back on the grid here. I have a full workout load — while I do feel like I was wearing myself thin, I am somewhat relieved that the last few weekends are over (events every single weekend…). I’ve accepted that the kids will get sick, especially when they are back in school, etc. It’s inevitable. But I am grateful that it’s just a cold/illness that can be easily fixed with medicine and will last a week or so. Be thankful.

Wedding season? Do you love going? Hate going? I am pretty sure this is my last wedding that I will be attending for awhile.

Anybody else have a short week for the upcoming Jewish holidays? I am off on Thursday and since I am usually off on Friday, I get a lovely 4-day weekend. Oh yeahhhh!

Hayrides? Corn mazes? Yay or NAY? YES and YES!!! I can’t wait.
