3-Mile Run –
We had a low-key weekend here — no major plans. On Friday, I was able to scoot out of work by 3pm and pick up Lili. We went food shopping and she surprisingly remembered that I told her I’d take her to the park since we didn’t have time earlier that morning. Oops. Fortunately, P just got home from work and I asked him to come and get the groceries so I could just head straight to the park with her. We spend well over an hour there and she still didn’t want to go.
There were tons of kids just hanging out and playing. She refused to go home and almost threw a fit but I told her I’d choo-choo her to the car and she accepted. We were home and she was still ready to play so we painted some more before dinner and then ate, gave her a bath and put her to sleep. I laid out our running clothes and stayed up later than I should have. Oh well. I knew I’d be paying for it some time this weekend.
Tamar was running a wee bit late but that was fine. Lili woke up too early — ugh. So I ate breakfast with her and we got ready to run. She was so excited to go. She loves being in the jogger. When Tamar got to the house, we ventured on towards the park. It’s almost 2-mile there and then we entered. The park is maybe a little over 1.75 miles (not quite 2), so we did 2 loops before taking an exit early and then heading back towards home. We were both feeling great though and I was able to cover 7.5 miles while she covered an extra mile since she runs to and back to her place.
Yes, a 7.5-mile run is considered a long run for me. I want to run even longer next week so I’m going to map something out. I think I’m aiming for 9-10 miles next week. Just what I need. I just hope the weather is beautiful like it was on Saturday. After my run, I came in, showered, changed Lili and then put her down for a nap. She quickly went to be and P and I got up to eat — breakfast #1 for him; breakfast #2 for me. Lili took almost 2 hours and then woke up. When she woke up, I fed her lunch, played and then we decided to walk to the park (a little over half a mile one way).
It was a hot walk there, but when the sun got behind the clouds, there was a breeze. Still, I was sweating. We probably went to the park at the HOTTEST time of day.
She had a ball though.
After an hour, P and I had it in the heat. It was time to head home and yes, Lili threw a little fit, but we were able to get her to go into her wagon and she was HOT and TIRED. You could tell.
When we got home, we gave her lots and lots of water and just let her rest a bit. It didn’t take that much longer for her to get her second wind. Then she was tearing up the house again. We ordered dinner and then by 6:30 P had to take his parents to the airport. It was going to be a long one since their flight was taking off from JFK — We checked the traffic in NY and it didn’t look too bad.
By the time he left, I fed Lili, gave her a bath and got her in bed. Surprisingly, P got home by 8:45 and Lili was still UP. But she was slowly going down. Of course, I stayed up later than usual and paid for it Sunday.
Yesterday was declared a rest day. I did make banana bread and lunch and dinner, but that’s as far as it got. I was so TIRED. My body was yearning for the bed. When Lili went down for 2 hours, I was right next to her sleeping… Last night was awful too — Let’s just say, Lili fell off the bed at 2am and I was up with her until 4am. I canceled my morning run and I am hoping I can go out for a lunch time run — pending how busy it is… Otherwise, I’ll have to go after work which I really hate to do but I really WANT TO RUN.
Also, I need to see a few friends this week that I haven’t seen — I’m dying to have a dinner date with my girlfriends, Rachel and Hazel, and Lili has been dying to see Cioci. I swear, every single day I ask her what she wants to do or where she wants to go, it’s Cioci. She loves her Kristina. We’re making plans to FaceTime this evening. HA.
Anybody race this weekend? Run long? I know Chelsea had a 19-mile run that I’m dying to read about!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful start to the week.
