Potty Training 101

6:45 AM: 4-Mile Run – COMPLETED

I mentioned briefly yesterday that we started hardcore with Lili’s potty training. She has gone to the potty twice before but they were most likely accidents. We realized now that she’s more than ready. She’ll tell us if she’s too wet or if she has to pee and hides when she is pooping. So, now we’re really trying to enforce it and trying to be more consistent — though I’m having a bit of a difficult time with that part since she’s not with me 7-days a week. We’ll get there though.

My morning plans to run with Celeste got sidelined this morning since I couldn’t drop Lili off earlier than I had intended, but it worked out perfectly. As soon as we got up, she told me she had to pee-pee. So I took off her diaper and plopped her right onto her potty where she had a full bladder released!!! I know, this is lame but we were so happy and excited and clapping and hugging. She was happy too. So after, I got on the treadmill and um, had to get off at least 3x as she told me she had to pee — but nothing came out. Better safe than sorry though, plus, it’s getting her used to the idea.

I probably could have had 5-miles in but because I had to keep jumping off the tread to plop her onto the golden throne, I lost some time. No biggie though. You have to have your priorities together when you’re a mommy. And honestly, I would much rather have her potty trained before baby #2 makes an appearance. When I was done with my run, she said she had to pee again, so I plopped her on and voila, she peed again!!! Fabulous and making progress.

I feel somewhat accomplished today: A good run + Lili peeing successfully in her potty twice is always a great start to my morning… Hopefully she will be just as successful at my in-laws.

I’m making a run over to Trader Joe’s and CVS during my lunch hour. Groceries and some basic necessities, i.e. pull-ups.

Do you love Trader Joe’s? What’s your favorite item? Have you tried cookie butter? I know all my friends LOVE IT!!!

  1. Yay, Lili! We’ll be on the potty training train soon too. I have no idea how it’s going to work with daycare though. I think I have to bring his potty in every day (seen other parents do this), so that’ll be interesting. But whatever it takes, right?!

I’m not big into Trader Joe’s. Around here they only have them in the city so us suburb folks just go to the grocery store. Cooke butter sounds great… almost as great as the frozen cookie dough I had for a snack last night… hehe

    • For the longest time, I had no idea what the heck was Trader Joe’s, but then I went in, and I can’t get enough of it. Of course the one closer to my house have the $3 buck chucks (Charles Shaw wine) — otherwise, the one that is walking distance from my job – no liquor license. Which is probably a good thing. LOL

Oh wow — bringing a potty to daycare on the daily is interesting. Fortunately both our parents have one — but I just bought them some pull-ups. I’m excited that she is understanding the concept and seriously, it would be a HUGE help if she was fully trained before baby #2 arrives. We’ll see. We have the rest of the summer. Eek.
